Seventh Grade P.E.

Students continue to participate in a variety of activities designed to develop specific skills in each major unit, expose them to a variety of activities in explorative units, build on their fitness development, and gradually introduce opposition and decision-making when performing skills.
In the major units of badminton, basketball, flag football, soccer, softball, and volleyball, a further set of specific skills are developed building on and in addition to the skills developed in sixth grade. Fitness development continues throughout the year integrated into each unit in relation to the skills being covered.

While cooperation and collaboration continue to be emphasized, opposition is introduced and individual/partner game-like situations are introduced, building a deeper understanding of how and when to use the skills being developed. Peer feedback is expanded to a less scripted format, and students are afforded more opportunities to make decisions on what skills to focus their attention on, either individually or with a partner on skill review days prior to assessments.

Seventh-grade assessment is based on progress towards mastering the specific skills focused on and assessed in each major unit, and written quizzes to assess understanding of the techniques and tactics introduced for each activity.
