Big & Little Siblings Community Service

Fourth grade Big Sisters and Kindergarten Little Sisters enjoyed a joint community service activity at Lincoln Park.
Big Sisters and Little Sisters is a long-standing tradition that promotes bonding and unique friendships across grades. For many, this begins a friendship that will last for years! The pairs make up School Families that are "parented" by Burke's employees. They gather with a dozen or so students from all grades at several special "Families" events over the course of the school year.

Last weekend, Burke’s Community Connections, a parent—and school-supported committee, partnered with the Richmond Neighborhood Center for a combined service opportunity that engaged kindergarteners with their 4th-grade Big Sisters. The “school siblings” created Year of the Snake crafts with messages of luck and joy to include in 250 food packages for the Lunar New Year.

It was a beautiful event, filled with laughter, smiles, and our amazing Burke’s community. Over 70 students, accompanied by their respective families, attended!
