This week at Tree House we’re bringing the fun to life with exciting, theme-inspired arts and crafts that will spark creativity and imagination! Your child will explore a variety of hands-on projects, each tied to a theme for each day! Details on the week’s exciting adventures will be shared after registration. Be sure to dress your child in comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes for all the fun-filled activities ahead. While dressing up according to the daily theme is encouraged, it’s completely optional. Please send a nut-free lunch and snacks with your camper—lunch is not provided. Let’s make it a week of memories, creativity, and exploration that your child will cherish!
The Tree Team is made up of our beloved Tree House and Study Tree staff. The Tree Team is all about fun, creativity, and learning together! With a focus on multi-age interactions, younger students can dive into new skills, while older students grow as responsible leaders and role models. From arts and crafts to story time, board games, dramatic play, and outdoor fun, there’s never a dull moment in our programs. It’s a space where everyone can grow, lead, and play!
SuperNovaly Computer Creators | June 9-13

In Computer Creators, your child will experience an exciting, hands-on approach to technology by building their very own computer, which they’ll be able to take home at the end of the camp! Over the week, students will learn the fundamentals of computer hardware, assembling and personalizing their machines with custom stenciled designs. They’ll also explore digital creativity using industry-standard tools like Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Premiere Pro, creating digital art projects that showcase their new skills. This immersive experience fosters technical knowledge and artistic expression, empowering students with ethics, practical skills, and a deeper understanding of the digital world. Monitors are provided during day camp only; the computer can be taken home at the end of camp!
Orione Moray of SuperNovaly is a self-taught programmer, entrepreneur, and educator with a passion for inspiring others through hands-on learning. As the lead instructor for this summer’s SuperNovaly classes, Orione brings over 800 hours of classroom experience in afterschool coding programs and 200 hours of experience in private tutoring. Orione’s mission is to instill a love of self-discovery in his students, echoing the inspiration he received from his own mentors and role models. SSAT Test Prep | June 9-13
Time: 9 a.m - 12 p.m. (Supervised lunch available until 12:30 p.m.)

Learn the format, timing, scoring and content of the SSAT. Students will become familiar with the Quantitative, Verbal, and Reading sections and the unscored Writing Sample. We will practice test-taking strategies, master content, learn when to guess, and improve our outcomes on the SSAT and general standardized tests. Students will take practice test sections of the SSAT at home and during the camp day. Results and strategies will be reviewed in class. Approaches to timing, eliminating wrong answer choices, guessing when necessary, and maximizing each student’s possible score will also be covered.
Jess Goldstein, a high school math teacher at the Bay School and former Burke’s Upper School Math Specialist, has over a decade of classroom teaching and test-prep experience. She’s taught test prep independently and with organizations in Portland, Minneapolis, Hawaii, and San Francisco. She ran the SSAT prep course at Presidio Hill and taught SSAT and HSPT summer camps at Burke’s in 2023. She is excited to work with Burke’s students who want to learn the tricks of the tests!
PERSONAL NARRATIVE WRITING | June 9-13

During these one-week writing workshops, rising seventh and eighth graders will begin practicing the art of the personal narrative, which will help prepare students for applying to independent high schools and boarding schools; this includes timed writing activities and application essays. This class will help seventh-grade students further develop storytelling and descriptive writing skills; eighth-grade students will learn how to share compelling stories and present the reader with an authentic, engaging portrait of who the student is. Over the week, students will:
- Learn about the components of a strong personal narrative
- Review different essay structures
- Brainstorm and draft answers to a variety of prompts
- Practice, practice, practice!
- Receive suggestions and feedback on their ideas and written work
Dana Perkins has taught literature and writing at the middle, high, and junior college levels for 25+ years. In 2007, she created and taught her first college application essay workshop at The Bush School, where she served as a college essay advisor. Dana has also served as Burke’s high school counselor in years past!
